Around midday a single tanker truck rolled over, landing on the driver's side. In the accident the tank dumped hundreds of gallons of an oil-based asphault mixture on to the road surface and surrounding grass. The highway was closed for hours while crews from the YFECO, CT DOT, CT DEP, and CSP worked on the scene. Eventually the scene was cleared, but damage to the road surface was still visible for years following the accident.
